In your role as a Senior Transportation Analyst, at The North West Company (NWC), you will provide transportation network support and analytics for Canadian operations. Your Role:

  • Determine and assess transportation costs and their impact on The North West Company (NWC) business units;
  • Develop and maintain financial models to ensure costs are within expected levels;
  • Compare and differentiate transportation alternatives within the current network and for theoretical network solutions;
  • Analyze and benchmark service providers against agreed-upon service standards;
  • Ensure that supply chain partners provide NWC’s business units with the accurate, detailed, and timely reports;
  • Monitor and develop reporting and recommendations to continually improve service;
  • Drive continuous improvement through the use of technology;
  • Support the logistics network through the use of TMS;
  • Review and research opportunities to expand the use the technology to improve the logistics networks, and;
  • Development of ongoing improvement initiatives that support NWC through logistics excellence.

 

Job Requirements

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Post-secondary education with a specialty in Supply Chain and Logistics is preferred;
  • Previous education or experience using transportation and financial modelling tools;
  • Minimum 3 years industry experience as an analyst;
  • Ability to develop, implement and monitor Key Performance Metrics;
  • Previous experience working with Oracle Transportation Management System;
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Excel and Word;
  • An understanding of NWC’s transportation network and the variety of transportation modes used considered an asset;
  • Project Management and Six Sigma training;
  • Previous supervisory and negotiation experience, along with strong interpersonal and leadership skills;
  • Must be detail conscious while maintaining a high degree of accuracy and the ability to maintain confidential information; coupled with proven organizational, planning and prioritizing skills;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with a demonstrated ability to interact with all levels of internal and external customers, and;
  • Proven ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
