In your role as an Operations Development Analyst, at The North West Company (NWC), you will analyze business processes, KPIs and create statistical, mathematical models and systems to identify opportunities and recommend optimal solutions. In your role, you are also responsible for labor analytics and dashboards for the Store Operations platform; including KRONOS Workforce Central System. Your Role:

  • Create reporting requirements with input from stakeholders;
  • Design reports aimed to test, produce and forecast KPIs;
  • Analyze and monitor the efficiency and effectiveness of the labor standards, tools, and systems;
  • Apply qualitative/quantitative methods to identify areas of efficiency;
  • Compile data inputs applicable to the budgeting process in order to develop forecasting methods and create preliminary budgets for stakeholder approval;
  • Remain current on data analysis best practices, products and systems, and improve the quality of data analysis;
  • Provide ongoing support for the Store Operations Systems and Kronos Workforce Central (KWC) for all banners; Northern Canada Retail, Alaska Commercial Company, and Cost-U-Less;
  • Deliver analytical support in development of operational plans, reporting, recommendations, and strategies;
  • Conduct ad hoc analysis to improve process and gain efficiencies using data from various internal and external sources;
  • Support the implementation of business solutions; and
  • Prepare and analyze operations reporting as required, and;
  • Conduct research as needed.

Job Requirements

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an analytical discipline such as Engineering, Computer science, or Business;
  • Minimum 2-4 years’ experience in process improvement/ business analysis using analytical tools and methods;
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, especially Excel (experience with macros) to create reports and conduct advanced data analysis;
  • Experience with documentation and organization of data, as well as knowledge of multiple data languages including but not limited to SQL, DAX, and R;
  • Keen attention to detail, and ability to effectively organize, prioritize and execute tasks in a fast-paced environment;
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills, presentation skills, coupled with experience working with diverse groups of people and driving consensus;
  • Strong analytical, quantitative orientation and problem-solving skills with the knowledge of how to leverage large amounts of data and technology;
  • Project management experience would be considered an asset.
