Your Role:

  • Manage and oversee the company’s outbound transportation operation;
  • Oversee and assist in  the  coordination  and  scheduling  of  all outbound cargo to ensure the expected flow of all Canadian banners;
  • Conduct negotiations with logistics partners while cultivating and maintaining relationships for greater efficiencies and cost savings;
  • Maintain and enforce contracts with logistics partners to meet the required service levels;
  • Review and research opportunities to expand the use the technology to improve the logistics networks;
  • Work with logistics partners to achieve increased performance through benchmarking service providers and procedures with other companies;
  • Develop the ongoing improvement of initiatives that support NWC through logistics excellence.

Job Requirements

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Post-secondary education with a preference for those specializing in Supply Chain & Logistics;
  • Previous education, or experience, using transportation and financial modelling tools;
  • Minimum 5 years industry experience as a logistician;
  • Previous experience working with the Oracle Transportation Management System;
  • Previous supervisory experience is an asset;
  • Ability to monitor Key Performance Metrics and make business adjustments to align with expectations;
  • An understanding of NWC’s transportation network and the variety of transportation modes used would be an asset;
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Excel and Word;
  • Proven organizational, planning and prioritizing skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, tasks and assignments;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, coupled with strong interpersonal and leadership skills;
  • Detail conscious while maintaining a high degree of accuracy and a demonstrated ability to maintain confidential information;
  • A high degree of curiosity, discovery, and willingness to work through complex scenarios with multiple technical systems; and
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
