In your role as a Manager, Corporate Development & Capital Planning at The North West Company (NWC); you will work with senior Executives across NWC, to lead in the creation and compilation of a three year diverse capital plan. Your Role:

  • Collaborate with the Director – Store Planning, Engineering & Construction   to monitor and complete   quarterly   capital projections;
  • Develop multiyear lifecycle replacement plans encompassing all budget types;
  • Perform financial audit of capital plan, analyze past performance, forecast investment capital and report;
  • Ensure that proposed projects follow the approved development process, including meeting expected corporate return thresholds;
  • Manage the development resource requests, ensuring we have internal alignment before resource allocation;
  • Act as the business lead in evaluating and developing new business opportunities functions;
  • Develop new business opportunities in collaboration with the Director, Business Development;
  • Evaluate business case submissions ensuring that recommended projects are strategically and financially sound with a high likelihood of being achieved; and
  • Identify and validate projects scopes, risks, constraints, dependencies, estimates, resource demands/roles and budgets;
  • Travel, while not excessive in duration, you will have the ability to see markets for business development opportunities and explore places that many people do not get to see.

Job Requirements

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce or Business Administration;
  • Business development or business investment   experience required;
  • Strong financial acumen with extensive experience in reviewing and evaluating operating statements and other financial reporting;
  • Knowledge of Windows environment, MS Office tools;
  • Develops and performs presentations to company Executives as required;
  • Prior experience in evaluating business or projects
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with individuals at all levels of the organization in a variety of situations which usually requires tact, diplomacy, and discretion;
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize and escalate tasks appropriately;
  • High attention to detail and information accuracy.
