Job Description

We are currently looking for seasonal part-time/full-time Income Tax Return Preparers to complete personal and small businesses tax returns for our customers located throughout Northern and Western Canada. Starting in December, a comprehensive training program will be provided in Canadian Taxation, Northern Residents deductions and computerized Tax Preparation software located at Gibraltar House, 77 Main Street, Winnipeg MB.

In your role as an Income Tax Return Preparer within the Financial Services department at The North West Company (NWC), you will be responsible for income tax preparation for individuals and small businesses.

Your Role:

  • Prepare Canadian personal and small businesses tax returns and related schedules.
  • Identify potential tax credits and liabilities and ensure accurate and complete returns are filed in a timely manner.
  • Communicate with head office staff

Job Requirements

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Formal tax training with at least 1-2 years of experience working in tax preparation
  • Experience in Northern Residents deduction, Northern Residents Travel deduction and experience in Quebec tax return preparation is an asset.
  • A thorough understanding of Canada’s self-assessed tax system and the ability to identify possible errors and/or omissions;
  • Ability to self-manage, and work independently from home
  • Good organizational skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively towards tight deadlines.
