The North West Company (NWC) has an Accounts Payable Clerk opportunity! In this role, you will process invoices for payment to suppliers, and ensure correct charges are allocated to the stores and warehouses, including expense invoices.

Your Role:

  • Match vendor invoices to purchase orders and follow up on discrepancies with appropriate research;
  • Review daily EDI reports making any necessary corrections;
  • Process coded expense invoices for payment in PeopleSoft;
  • Prepare Excel spreadsheet and process uploads in PeopleSoft, ensuring information is accurate;
  • Understand paper flow in accounts payable; ensure deadlines are met for cheque runs and month end;
  • Respond to inter-company personnel for invoice discrepancies and other general issues;
  • Monitor accounts payable public email for folder daily, print invoices, and respond to questions;
  • Review vendor statements and respond to payment inquiries;
  • Open and distribute mail;
  • File invoices daily, and;
  • Pull and photocopy invoices upon request.

Job Requirements

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Previous data entry experience is required;
  • Basic accounting experience is an asset;
  • Ability to analyze and problem solve;
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications with an emphasis on Excel;
  • Knowledge of PeopleSoft and Retek applications is an asset;
  • Must possess a high degree of accuracy, with a strong attention to detail;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with a demonstrated ability to provide superior customer service;
  • Proven organizational, planning, and prioritizing skills; and
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, as well as part of a team.
